Jennie and David, your couple's boudoir session was everything I could have hoped for. I love creating couple's boudoir sessions. Usually women gift their honeys beautiful artwork of themselves so the thought is always for their significant other. However, when your honey is actually making the artwork with you, it's a completely different, very intimate experience. Jennie and David are the ultimate power couple. Their love has withstood storm after storm and they both have decided that rather than give into the stress, they are both going to fight and make the best of their time together.

Jennie and David are high school sweethearts. They actually met at a Kroger when they were sixteen and seventeen. This was, in fact, in the era before the cell phone. She saw him bagging groceries and knew she wanted to get to know him. She left her phone number on the hood of his car in hopes that he would call. They've been together ever since. She told us that he is a very sentimental man, he keeps little notes and memories from their past, including the note with her phone number on it. The two got married when they were twenty four and several years later in 2001 had their only son Nathan.

After this amazing couple reached the twenty year mark in 2014, Jennie came to me wanting to commission a boudoir session as a gift to her hubby of two decades! Her artwork was amazing and she told me that I made her feel like a model. She was very happy with her artwork and so was David! Four years later she contacted me again to commission a second session, this time with her hubby. Only this time their reasoning wasn't to celebrate a success, but rather to capture precious moments in time.

In 2015 David had started to have back trouble, and had to have back surgeries. In 2016 he was diagnosed with the rarest form of cancer, Grade 4 Glioblastoma in his spine. Unfortunately there is no cure for this very rare disease, but that didn't stop David and Jennie from trying. They asked for solutions and immediately started to find ways to fight for David's life. David went through forty straight days of the strongest radiation and a full year of chemo, after which his Neocolonialist informed him that there was no new growth! A very exciting time, but the Martins knew that their fight wasn't over and that the cancer could reappear at any time. On February 2nd of this year, exactly a year after his first day of radiation, the tumor showed up again, this time growing at a fast pace. Due to the location of the tumor, not much can be done to to prevent its spread or growth. David is still undergoing chemo in an attempt slow the growth. He receives treatments every two weeks and each treatment costs $26,000. Unfortunately, their insurance doesn't cover this cost, and the couple have been paying out of pocket to prolong David's life and try experimental treatments in hopes of a cure. If you would like to help this family and David, you can donate to his GoFundMe page to help the family through this rough time.

After the news of this horrible tumor the couple knew that they wanted to spend every moment they could together. Jennie contacted me with the details of David's story and we scheduled them for a session right away. Jennie wanted gorgeous artwork to capture the love she and David felt for each other, but decided that it should be a surprise for David. On the day of their session she brought her totally unsuspecting hubby to our studio, not knowing if he would be alright with being photographed in his undies or not! Once they arrived and the cat was out of the bag, David was in love with idea! He was very excited but decided against the shower scene. He only wanted to capture their natural love, "like when they wake up together on Sunday morning." I think these images do just that. They show very intimate sneak peek into this couples life and the love and affection they have for one another.

Jennie told us that this was even better than her first session. She loves to see the way David looks at her, and we captured that perfectly. Her favorite thing about David is the way he makes her smile. He's funny and strong, even through some of the worst pain. He underwent two back surgeries and chemo without any pain medication, not even an Advil. She described him to us as her Superhero! He makes everyone smile and feel more at ease with the whole situation. His favorite thing about her is her smile and her whit. Throughout these past few years, they've noticed that their situation has made everyone a little stronger. Especially their son Nathan. Most seventeen years old boys would be out with friends, but he's decided to spend the most time he can with his father. Jennie told us that she feels the situation has made Nathan more of a man. So in a way "it's a blessing but it sucks."

Jennie and David have decided that they won't let the odds detour them from fighting for David's life, or more time together. Jennie has taken an absence from her job to be with her hubby through his treatments and to keep everything functioning around the house. David's surgeries have resulted in him being completely numb on his entire right side, requiring him to need a wheelchair. She told us he just smiles through everything and always looks on the bright side, even when there doesn't appear to be one. These past few years have drastically changed their perspective on life. The two have decided that even though this "sucks" they're going to take it one day at a time. Smiling everyday, and spending every second they can together. Their artwork is absolutely stunning and I'm so happy I had the opportunity to meet these two amazing people and create lifelong memories for them. Thank you so much Jennie & David! We loved having you in the studio, I hope you two enjoy your beautiful artwork! Again if you would like to donate to Jennie and David to help pay for his treatments please visit their GoFundMe page!

Deanna White - This has to be one of the most beautiful and sexy stories you've shared yet. The sexy part is that are opening up, being vulnerable about the cancer and what they are going through. The beautiful part is you can see the love through the picture in their eyes and body language. No matter the length of time they may have, which I hope is a long time, they will always have these beautiful, tasteful pictures that express this time in their life and that this day was one sealed in their memories with pictures. Prayers for more good days than bad and healing.
